How does one "re-core" the deck?

There really should be no perceptible compression of the deck. If there
is, then that indicates a repair is in order. For older boats, it is
likely that the mast beam is sagging and should be sistered. For newer
boats, the deck core may be infiltrated with water and starting to rot,
and should be re-cored.
