[Public-list] Rudder Shoe Pin

How would drilling through the shoe, and putting a cotter pin through the
show and bolt, help to hold the shoe on? Isn't the purpose of the bolt to
hold the shoe in place, and not the purpose of the shoe to hold the bolt in
place?

I used 5200 - which I believe you can heat when you need to unscrew the pin.
5200 can also flex when cured. Or you could be Ruthless in your pursuit by
drilling clear thru the shoe perpendicular to the pin/bolt while the
pin/bolt is screwed in and then place a codder pin in there.

Hi All,
I am replacing the rudder shoe pin and noticed there
is play in the thread - presumably from corrosion. I
would like to put a new pin (threaded bolt) into the
existing thread and am wondering what I can use to set
the pin in place. I'm thinking of something that
bonds well when submersed but won't stop me taking it
out in the future.
any thoughts?
Thanks
Mick
