may
have that size or can order it for you.

Stephen,

That's great but where can I buy one? I looked in the West Marine
catalog and it appears that they don't have the diameter I need. The
local hardware store doesn't stock anything in silicone bronze so I
would need to but 25 when I only need one. I just need the bolt and then
I'll grind it as you did.

James

Jim,

Either you can have a machine shop duplicate or I made one from a 1/2"
silicone bronze bolt and round the end with a grinder. It worked since
the
bronze is so soft.

Hello everyone.

I need to replace the bolt (set screw) that attaches the tiller head
fitting to the rudder shaft as it comes into the cockpit. The bolt is
silicone bronze, an inch long, and I believe ½" in diameter. The end of
the bolt is rounded to allow it to sit in the recession in the rudder
shaft.
Anyone know where I can find it or something close to it?

Thanks,

James Schueler
