[Public-list] outboard motor purchase

I am looking seriously at a small Mercury outboard for my dinghy. The engine appears to be in good shape - fuel tank and lines recently cleaned by knowledgeable person. My question has to do with its history. It was used in salt water - the bahamas - for from two to four years - I am not sure which. Should I be concerned about this part of its  history? Is it a showstopper? 

The context of this question is that my A-4 died of salt last year - though its salt "consumption" took place over may more years than is the case with this outboard.
