[Public-list] Replacing the Atomic 4

David,
What is the matter with the Atomic 4? I assume you bought a decent boat so
if the hull is in good shape possibly the motor is too. Probably just
needs an overhaul that should cost much less than the cost of repowering.
Plus it gives you all the power you need. Now if reliability is an issue
... get the book from moyer marine www.moyermarine.com and check out the
parts that are available from them as well.
Besides if you repower to a diesel you have to install a new oversized
exhaust, possibly a new propshaft a new propeller and a new bed for the
motor. Generally this cost runs into the 10,000 range. 5,000 for the motor
and the balance for the install.

Good luck but I'd suggest rehabbing the old motor it has worked well with
the boat for at least 20 years.
