Regarding the head, there is no reason you can't test it with a bucket.
Use some colored water and it should be easy to see if it's leaking. It
should also be clear whether the pump is drawing well. Mine is leaking
intake water at the pump handle, and I've got to either get a maintenance
kit or buy a new one.

Subject: [Public-list] New Owner Questions
I think I have about a million questions, but I will
start with just a few.
Can someone provide the measurements for the original
table in the Alberg 30. I have the measurements for
the support, but would like to know what the
dimensions of the original table top was.
Aurora came to me with a marine head and no tank. I
am interested in any info about how to retrofit a
tank. I am pretty clueless about marine heads in
general since my previous boat had a porta potty. How
can I evaluate the condition of the head? Can I test
it by just putting the lines in a bucket?
I am ready to start working on the teak. I am torn
between oil, Cetol Light, or varnish. I always
figured that varnish was far and away the prettiest,
but also the highest maintenance. I am starting to
doubt that since I built a sea kayak a few years and
used varnish on it. It's finish is holding up MUCH
better than the Cetol Light on my C22. Granted the
use is different but the kayak has spent several years
outside and still looks like furniture. It isn't teak
and has a coat of epoxy under the varnish, so I am
probably comparing apples and oranges. I guess my
question is will I regret it if I use varnish?
