Yeah - the problem with that is the newer boats were required to have the
number stamped into the hull, but the older boats were not. I have a 1972
and it does not have the number in the hull. I foget the date/year that this
became a requirement, but I am sure someone on this list will remind me.

Now how about extracting the hull number from the HIN stamped inot the
top starboard corner of the transom? I'd have tried to extrapolate a
pattern from mine, but the boarding ladder blocks all but the last two
digits (which I think are 75; which makes sense since Candy Cane was
laid up in 1975).
