Hello Albergers,

I am in the process of putting the third engine in Sonsy, # 200., built in 1966. She has a universal 5411 which is probably 25 + years old. The motor has lost its compression and will not start, even with starting fluid.

I ordered a new motor last week. Our local marine diesel  shop is a Yanmar dealer and a well established. I chose the Yanmar 2ym-15. This is their only 2 cyl. motor now. It is referred to as new generation I believe because of new emissions compliance and more electronics. I'm sure, like everything else, it has a computer in it because it has a two year warranty just on electronics.

This really came at a bad time, not because of Christmas, but because I am missing the most beautiful sailing days of the year, here on the Texas coast. She should be back in business around the first of the year.

I'm not going to get in to the cost. That is another issue that is way over the top but I plan on keeping this beautiful lady from here on out.
