first - changing from a 2 blade to a 3 blade prop is a disadvatage when 
racing. I have a 3-blad and I race occasionally, and I estimate it is a 1/4 
knot disadvantage. That doesn't sound like much until you do the Miles River 
Race [17 mi] in light wind. There does not to be any rules for people who 
make their boats go slower.

As for replacement inboard engines - this issue has not been raised. Most of 
these engines are close in weight [plus or minus 1 crew member's weight] 
that I don't think this needs addressing - maybe I am wrong. Removing the 
engine entire raises other issues and is a fundamental change is the 
'original' boat. The A30 is a sloop with an inboard by design.

Is there any rules issue when re-powering an A-30 with another inboard 
engine? Diesel? Weight of the new engine? (I don't mean something strange, 
just a reasonably close to the original size & weight engine?) 3 vs 2-bladed 
prop, etc.?
