Patty,
Great news from your insurance Co.  I have never heard of an ins co. offering an owner some extra cash to keep the boat.  Is this common?  I suppose that 5% of 12K would be $600.00 and no one would be able to cut up, transport and landfil your Alberg 30 for that.  Oh God I don't believe what I just said!!!!!   Disposing of an Alberg 30 sounds sooooo  gruesome.
 
Happy for you that Timbuktu did not sink so the engine is OK.  Are your damages more superficial than structural?  Best of luck and keep us posted................we all feel for you.

Wish I had a toe rail left! Mine is completely kaput after Katrina. My
insurer totalled Timbuktu and then gave me 5% extra so I would keep the
boat. I'm a happy girl! Gonna fix her up, yessirreebob!
