[Public-list] Boarding Ladders

As you have noticed, mine has no standoff legs. Where I wanted the ladder, I had only about 15" of freeboard and very little hull to brace against (because of stern overhang). My only concern was damaging the hinges by applying too much leverage. I am 185 lbs but by climbing with my chest kept close to the ladder so the weight is straight down, it handles it just fine. My only worry is if some "lard-arse" was to climb with his butt stuck way off the side or some kid tried to do a back flip off the ladder. But for the wife and I , it is just perfect and uses no space for storage.
Cheers, Rod

It sounds like they make a four step version. I will call masons and
ask. I assume the prices are candadian not USD. I know the difference is
not what it once was, but every little bit helps.
thanks. Your solutions and the "chesapeake" solution are both very
interesting for different reasons.

Dave;
When I take pix for you, I will take some measurements as well.
I have this mounted on my penultimate boat.......so my boat is not an
Alberg 30.............YET !
So you might want a 4 step version.
I am sure we are not finished with the snow , here in Ontario and I
will definitely have to get a lot more crossed off my "Honey-do" list
before the Admiral will give permission to remove tarps. Probably be
May 1st.

I found it. How much of the ladder is in the water when it is
deployed?
Thanks

Dave;
Sorry, I just tried the link I sent you and it only takes you as
far as the opening page. If you type boarding ladder into the
quick
search box at the upper left, the site will return a list of a half
dozen choices. Click on the last one and it should take you to the
one
like mine.

What ladder do you have? What source? That is a feature I would
like
to
have, if possible.
