[Public-list] Full Battens

>From what I've figured out, the full battens absolutely need to have a slide
of some sort directly on the luff edge. If you go with articulated luff cars
(I have a Strong System set up on my 41' luff), the sail will go up and down
easier and quicker than with standard slides. With standard slides it is
imperative that the sail be directly into the wind. The only problem happens
when the slides delay a little bit coming down. If the battens get to be
leech end much lower than the luff end, the slides will cock and lock up on
the track.
At least this has been my experience. I bought the full batten main first
using 7/8" internal nylon (plastic) slides. Last season, I had the Strong
System set up on the luff. I'm much happier with this set up.
