[Public-list] Stanchion Question

when you got the tubing from on-line, how did make openings for the life
line in the tubing? the hole in the top .29 inches woudl be too small
for my lifelines which are 5/16 (I think). If they were 1/4 they would
slide through the hole on top with room to spare. Am I on the right
track or missing something?

That cap with an allen screw has the fitting for the life line. Also
you can
always give them a call.

How did you get openings for the life line? I did not find a screw-on
top at suncor. I did find a top cap that would attach with an allen
screw. could that be it? Thanks

Dave,
Suncor has a base that matches (very close)to the Alberg. I used there
base
and tops which are screw on and ordered the stainless tubing which is
.060
from Online Metals.Com. they cut the material to 24 inches you just
put
them
together.

Garhauer has 24 " stainless tubes - one lifeline - for $27 and loose
change. Tops-in-Quality has them for $44. $48 for two lifelines.
Top-in
quality will duplicate the base for $52/base. Their standard base does
not match our bolt pattern - or least my pattern.

I have. I just used some stainless tubing (and reused the lifeline
guide at the top). Note that some of the stanchions are supposed to
be
bent in slightly just above the base. This lets them stand up
straight
on a sloped deck, rather than leaning outboard.
