I have an electric (DC) pump in the bilge approx. inline with the engine
water intake where I can reach it . What did to facilitate instalation
and removal is that I mounted the pump and float switch on a piece of
1/4 " lexan approx 4" x 6"with clearance holes for a 1/4" screws in
each corner. I then epoxied 1/4" flat head stainless screws in the
bilge. Just clean the bilge, scuff up the screw locations with 80 grit
sand paper. and set the screws in a blob of thickened epoxy. I use wing
nuts to fasten the lexon.
The only draw back is that the pump is held of 1/2' off the bottom. If
you counter sink the underside of the clearance holes the lexan will
sit a little lower. I only use 2 wing nut as the pump isn't going
anywhere. This makes it easy to remove for cleaning, etc.
I originaly mounted the pump on an aluminium plate but that corroded badly.

Also I ran the hose along the top starboard cockpit locker then
through the bulkhead into the rear lazerret.. I fabricated a "Y"out of
2 different diameters of aluninium conduit ( 1" and 1 1/2" I believe)
that match the hose diameters of the electric and manual pumps and
instaled the "Y" inline with the hose that exits the boat. That was
about 6 years ago and I have never had a problem.. I didn't use any
check valves as there where none in the original instalation.
