[Public-list] Hawse pipe cover went overboard

I can't recall the name of the book in the local public library, but the
little project in this one was made of 2 circular layers of wood. Each layer
had a slot in the middle big enough for one link of anchor chain. As I
recollect, having cut the circle to the size of your hawse pipe, you then
cut the circle in half across its diameter. You then cut the slot big enough
to accept one link of chain.

You did the same thing for the 2nd circle, which took a 2nd link of chain,
but at right angles to the first.

You epoxy glued the whole thing together, which basically made it water
proof. Then, when you haul up the anchor, you have a round plug to stopper
the top end of the hawse pipe and keep water out of it when the green stuff
comes over the bow.

Not explained particularly well, but the pictures in the book made sense.
