[Public-list] Seized Shifter and Gear cable

Hi George,

I disconnected the cable from the shifter to discover that the shifter was
seized. 
The cable was also seized as well with the bulkhead end of the cable
partially broken.
The transmission lever shifts fine.
I'll try to get a Telflex 4 foot gear shift cable.

As to the Marmac shifter, I have dissembled it and with penetrating oil
managed to get it to move but find the gear shift part difficult to move.
Perhaps it is one of those things that cannot not be fixed and a new shifter
is required.

If I have to buy a new shifter what would you recommend?

Teleflex has bought all the competition and has a monopoly on cables.

You can try disconnecting the cable to see if it's actually the assembly 
that's stuck or the cable (or, sometimes, the transmission end).
