[Public-list] Marking anchor chain

I marked my chain with paint using a method used on ships. While the ships  
mark the chain in 90 ft lengths, I marked mine in 25 ft lengths.
 
Measure the chain and paint the link at desired intervals red.
 
Once that is dry paint the links on either side of the first red link white  
(any different color will work). At the second red link paint two links on  
either side white. At the third three links and so on.
 
It works for me.
