[Public-list] Starboard locker fuel tank placement

I'm debating the relocation of a new fuel tank in my boat, whether to put a
Tempo 11 gal under the cockpit floor of to put a Tempo 18 gal tank in the
starboard locker.

I'm interested in hearing the pros and cons of each location and what fellow
Alberg 30 sailors would recommend.

I'm trying to figure if one of the Tempo fuel tanks (Model TP18TT Part #
640052 18 gal) will fit in the Starboard locker of my boat.
My hull number is 560, a liner hull.

Does anyone know what the distance is between the ledge in the starboard
locker and the deck?

Is it the same for all liner hulls after hull number 400?

Another A30 list member has done this and I figure this may work for me if
the measurements are the same on the boats.

The Tempo Starboard 18 gallon tank is 5" @ bottom, 38-3/4" L X 8-1/4" W @
top X 17-1/2"H. Tempo says to allow 1-3/4" above tank for fitting
connections.

My original intention was to replace the tank under the floor but that may
be more trouble than putting a tank in the starboard locker. I was concerned
about the weight offset of a starboard tank but in a loaded boat, 18 gallons
of gas one side (approx 120 lbs) can be easily compensated by storing enough
stuff on the other side.

The starboard locker option would allow for a larger tank 18 gal versus the
11 gal under the cockpit floor. On a long trip I would have one less 5 gal
gas jug lashed on deck than I have in the past.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
