[Public-list] Missing Thru-hull?

But there is already one there - it is the engine intake. All I do is to
remove the hose and open the seacock. The higest the water can get is to the
intake. I see no reason to create another hole in the boat.

Edward's right; I believe it's a bung to drain the bilge when you're out of
the water. A useful addition, too, if you plan to spend time on the hard.
Stories abound of boats "sinking" while out of the water for long periods, a
combination of excessive rain and blocked cockpit drains. I have often
heared advice to remove a hose from a seacock, and to leave the cock open,
while ot of the water for an extended period to avoid the possibility of
this flooding occurring. Most go for the cooling water intake, as it is
often (as in the Alberg's case) the lowest through hull in the boat.
