Hi all,
It is one week since Calico Jack docked upon our return to New York from our quick cruise through the Chesapeake.
As I mentioned (below email), I've posted the combined pictures from Kalunamoo and Calico Jack on my webshots page, and they are open to public viewing. See:

There are 4 albums of the trip and one seperate album of all the photos we took at the Naval Academy.

We were delayed by TS Ernesto at the start, which left us with big seas and little wind for our south bound passage. We gave up the idea of overnighting at Kiptopeake due to fairly strong southerlies blowing in. Poquoson River directly across the bay was beautiful and quiet. A real nice anchorage. Then we travelled up to Reedville and anchored behind Sandy Point. Again, a wonderful anchorage. From there it was on to Soloman's where we took on fuel and anchored just up into Mill Creek. >From there we went to St. Michael's and spent two nights at the marina (expensive on the weekends) and explored the town and museum. Then, on to Mecca and spent 3 nights in Annapolis. Calico Jack was on a town mooring, but Kalunamoo was too big at 47' so she anchored out, dragged off, then anchored out in Back creek. We went onto Chesapeake City from there and spent two nights due to rain. We did get to walk through the town, visit the canal museum, and the Tiki Bar. Then it was on to Cape May, where we spent the night and 1/2 of the next day waiting for some big winds to calm down. Once again, we were out into the ocean with big seas and a dieing wind, this time right on the nose. Eventually the seas calmed down and we had an enjoyable finish to our cruise.
Probably the biggest lesson I learned on this trip is that we could definately do this sort of a trip for many, many years in a row, and still not have enough time to visit all of just the best spots. It was a great trip (even with the wind in our face most of the time and the engines constantly running). We'll be doing it again, with different ports.
Thanks to all those on these (and the other) lists who passed on "local info" for us. We all appreciate it. I still have the whole Chesapake chart annotated with all the ports and gunkholes you've all recommended. Lots of cruising to do!
Regards,
Brian and Elaine s/v Calico Jack
Bill and Maureen s/v Kalunamoo
