[Public-list] Replacing Wooden Spreaders

John; I probably did not describe it right. My spreaders also bisect the shroud angles and, I too, have small cable clamps on the shroud to assist in placing the spreader tips correctly.

On MAHSEER #380 my speaders are as you discribe except the do not slope up
at the tips, to me this indicates that your speaders did not bisect the
cap shroudes correctly. The mast fitting on my boat slopes up so that the
spreader is straight and bisect the shrouds correctly. To make sure this
always right since I remove the mast yearly (Canada you know)I have fitted
2 small S.S cable clamps tightly above and below the speaders to correctly
align them before stepping and tensioning the cap shrouds.
