You will have to have the angle correct and that is not with the halyard 
and forestay parallel. I think they want about 155 Harken tells owners 
to add a lanyard to the head of sails with a short luff to make sure the 
swivel is always at the same height if the luff on your various 
headsails varies. Otherwise the tension on the furling drum is huge and 
the sail is difficult to roll. It is not good if there is sag in the 
forestay either.  If the halyard is wound in it stops the furling 
process in its tracks, and wears the halyard or the forestay.
