[Public-list] Deck/hull joint - Toe Rail - ETC

     I would say first have a beer! My bet is that you have more than a 
hull to deck joint with  water trouble starting at the chainplates and 
with wet balsa core. I would suggest that you get a moisture meter and 
check the deck, particularly opposite the cabin and around all stantion 
and pulpit bases and any through deck fittings, before you start on the 
joint. The area of the seats at the bilge pump and the cockpit sole are 
also prone to moisture ingress. With the moisture meter readings in 
hand, (and you may need to have a couple more beers in the other hand 
too),  you will be better able to analyze the extent of your problem 
before you start, rather than after you get part way into things.
    Contact me off list if you would like to know how to repair decks, 
as I have done #528 completely.
    The inside genoa track  is just a piece of flat steel on a raised 
part of the deck mold and that is often very leaky too.
