It is also near the place where in the War of 1812 Lt. Livingston (sort of a
North American Lawrence of Arabia type) captured USS Scorpion and Tigress
from canoes with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment and Mohawks. The Royal Navy
re-named the schooners Surprise and Confiance; I named our boat as much for
that Surprise as for Jack Aubrey's.

I have always wanted to see  those waters.
