About ten years ago I had a tank designed for sewage that I could not 
make fit up forward so I installed  it inside the starboard cockpit  
locker and plumbed it as a second tank for  fuel, in my case, diesel. I 
do not know what type of plastic it is, but it is white, translucent 
stuff. It shows no sign of deterioration after 10 years.
