[Public-list] Bronze NPS thread pipe cap source?

Well, since I was mentioned in the original post, I suppose I should chime
in. When I capped off my thru hull fittings, I just went to the hardware
store and bought some bronze caps and screwed them on. I never really paid
any attention to the type of threads or whether or not I was going to bugger
up the threads on the thru-hull fitting, because I knew that it was
temporary and I planned to eliminate the thru-hull anyway, so I just
honkered down on it to make sure it didn't leak.

Rachel,
Possibly I misunderstood. My suggestion of capping inside the valve was
meant as a secondary, piece of mind solution. It would remove the
possibility of the valve openning and leaking while giving you a chance to
"live with it for a while" with extra piece of mind. I have a 1 1/2" thru
hull with a seacock and a pipe plug in my hull where I removed a second head
(not an Alberg). I had an insurance survey done last summer and the surveyor
was quite happy with it.
In any case, I checked all my supply catalogs at work today. I couldn't
find any brass or bronze NPS pipe caps. I just now Googled "NPS Threaded
Pipe Caps" and noted two suppliers. Your choice, either Titanium or
Stainless (also plastic, but I wouldn't even think of that!). I'm not sure
of the sizes available in the stainless, but the Titanium goes from 1/8" -
4".
Good Luck on your search,
Brian
