thanks to michael connolly and joe traub rascal is in the water. after numerous little battles of irritating fixes rascal motored out to the big lake under electric power yesterday.the  sea trial of the electric motor was outstanding. still need more data but the preliminary numbers (amp hours used etc. ) really surprised me. pleasingly so.
  the motor backed us out of the mud on one occassion. i do admit i went out and back at a leisurely pace which does conserve fuel.
  no nauseating diesel smell, no gas fire explosions, no oil spills for the coast guard to issue fines. all in all a great first trial
