Greetings Everyone,
After much serious thought, I have decided to sell my beloved A30, #84,
Viceroy. She was built in 1965. As some of you know, I have had this in mind over
the past year, but, until very recently, had planned to keep her for the
forseeable future. This is a very difficult decision, and one that I have
agonized over for a long time. I have owned her since October 2002. She is offered
for sale at $19,500.00. I believe this is a fair price price for a fine, well
equipped, boat.
Viceroy is well equipped for cruising. I have never raced her. The topsides
were professionally painted last July for the first time with beautiful "Sky
Blue" awlgrip. The bottom is in good shape and was painted with dark blue
ablative paint. The matching boot stripe is also dark blue. The bottom and boot
stripe were also professionally painted at same time as the topsides. The deck
is still the original gelcoat. Pictures are available upon request.
The boat was re-engined in 1990. The original gas engine (a Gray Marine, I
think) was replaced with a Volvo 2002 Penta diesel (18 HP). This was installed
by Higgins Marine in St. Michaels. It runs very well.
Viceroy has had some modifications in years past that increased the water
capacity to 73 gallons and added a shower in the head. One of the owners long
ago had plans of extended cruising. There is also a pressure pump for water
supply. A 15 gallon holding tank is installed. I have a macerator pump that has
never been installed.
The sails are in fair condition. I have a main, roller furling 150 genoa,
spinnaker (that I never used) and two hank-on jibs. A new Shaeffer 1100 roller
furler was installed in May of 2004. I have a spinnaker pole and smaller
whisker pole as well.
The dodger and cruise awning were replaced in 2004. New 1" framework was
installed with rear and side hand holds. This is a really nice setup. The
sunbrella fabric is "Toast" colored. It looks great with the blue topsides paint.
The canvas was made and installed by Canvas Creations in Annapolis.
The mast was taken down in March 2004 to replace the electrical wiring. I
also replaced the vhf antenna and coax and installed a new combination
foredeck/steaming light. An anchor light was also installed. All wiring is Ancor.
The main cabin windows have been replaced with new plexiglass. This was done
during the A30 maintenance weekend in 2004. The interior is in excellent
condition.
These are the main items you may be interested in. Viceroy is kept in a slip
at Oak Harbor Marina at the head of Rock Creek in Pasadena, MD. She is ready
to sail. Like most old boats, there are some things that need to be worked
on, but nothing serious. She is a very solid boat. There is much more I could
tell you, but contacting me directly would be best to get the details you
want.
If anyone has questions, please contact me at any time. I can be reached by
email or on my cell phone at (410)241-6324. This is a great time of year to
buy this wonderful boat.
Fair Winds To All,
Buddy Franklin
