Hi Bill,

I come out of the engine with a pipe arrangement line the one shown below

the from there with rubber exhaust hose directly to the Vetus LP40. From the 
exhaust end of the Vetus to the factory original exhaust thru hull in the 
transom. I make a big loop woith the exhaust hose in the lazarette.

Thanks everyone for the comments and advice on original muffler replacement.

Mike (Lehman),   would the Vetus muffler LP40 you suggested be used in 
conjunction with their Gooseneck LT 40 and with the exhaust hose that Vetus 
supplies?  It would seem ,according to their diagram that the muffler would, 
in the Alberg, be mounted somewhere on the hull behind the engine and I 
assume this involves some glassing to the hull to fabricate some sort of 
horizontal platform for the attachment of the muffler.  Any advice on this 
installation will be much appreciated.
