Awlgrip is pretty seriously nasty stuff. In order to spray it, you
need to really know what you are doing. I am not a chemist, but I am
pretty sure that it's an isocyanate, which means it's seriously
hazardous to your health. Before undertaking to use it at all, and FOR
SURE before you try to spray it, be sure to read the Material Safety
Data Sheet (MSDS) and understand the health risks as they are
significant. Spraying awlgrip is not like mixing epoxy. I think you
need a special positive-pressure and explosion-proof spray booth and I
also think you need positive pressure forced-air respiration. It's
possible for you to do it as an amateur, but you need to make sure
that you really read up on what you need. In order to purchase all of
the necessary safety and spraying equipment, there is a significant
amount of investment required. I would wager that, even if a yard will
charge you $5k to spray awlgrip, this would be cheaper than purchasing
all the necessary spray and safety equipment yourself to do the job
right.

Brushing is another story. It's still dangerous, but I think much more
manageable for an amateur. And with all the reducers and special
thinners, supposedly you can get very close to spray-quality finish
from a brush.
