[Public-List] Design of derrick to raise Alberg 30 mast

The A-Frame worked really well when I used it, we found three people was
sufficient if you were not in a hurry. I would not want to do it with
two unless absolutely necessary. The one thing we did slightly
differently than the instructions on the website, which I felt was
helpful, was that rather than using the winch to lift the mast, we used
our third person pulling the vertical part of the tackle before it went
through the block to turn aft and merely used the winch as a safety.
That put the weight in the hands of two people rather than one, put a
second person at the mast to assist when necessary, and took a lot of
unnecessary strain off the line and off the deck where the turning block
was mounted (the loads induced by the bowstringing of the turning block
setup on the rig worried me, particularly when you put the power of a
winch behind it cranking the line).

You could add another three to six inches to the height of the A-frame,
any more would be unnecessary. Even as is it works fine, it's just very
close, you're only lifting the base of the mast two or so inches off the
step.
