My Univesal diesel 30 hp is a real workhorse--does a terrific job with a lot less than 1/2 gal per hour fuel consumption at hull speed and no maintenance issues. Don't know how much exactly, as I only fill up the tank every 14 months or so...and usually loose my notes documenting the hour meter time before I get around to going back to the fuel dock. Universal marine is out of business but the engines were provided by Kubota, who still makes them and has all sorts of parts available. So far as I know the Universal series is still identical to current Kubota engines.)
