You probably read about this from me. I have an outboard 18 gallon saddle tank in my starboard sail locker. The vent is higher that my transom, where the original vent was located and in a bouncing seaway, I would spill fuel out the vent. I removed the stancion nearest the primary winch on the starboard side, drilled a hole large enough so insert a rubber vent hose through and left enough hose outside to reach the top of the stancion and caulked around the hose. I placed the standard vent fitting from the transom in the hose and replaced the stancion. I have never spilled another drop, because the spreaders would need to be in the water before I had enough angle to spill anything. I did this modification 15 years ago and it has worked very well.
 
On your boat the fuel vent is (or originally was) a copper tube loop at the after end of the coaming. I tried that before the 'vent up the stancion' trick but all it did was to spill fuel on the deck, so I quickly aboandoned that idea.
