I don't think you can use a star main without a significant recut.
Stars have VERY bendy masts, whereas Albergs have tree trunks. The
luff curve in a star main is going to be completely different than in
an Alberg main. Also I think star mains would probably be built much
lighter than Alberg mains.
After the amount of work you would have to do to get a star main to
work, I would think you could better start from scratch, but that's
just me. I could be wrong.
