[Public-List] In-Hull Transducers

Dear Bob,
I installed my Hawkeye transducer in the aft starboard locker
in the main saloon just forward of the icebox bulkhead and as close to the
vertical seat support panel as possible. I epoxied in a length ( about six
inches) of 4inch ABS pipe cut to the right angle so that it would stand
plumb vertical. I fill that with water every season and just drop the puck
into it making sure that it sits correctly. Seems to work like a charm.!
Pretty low tech but I always have a leadline aboard for backup. I might try
mineral oil and a more permanent fix but for now I am satisfied. Regards
Jonathan. PS. It might help to sand any paint off the area of contact.

Subject: [Public-List] In-Hull Transducers

Hi All,

As a new Alberg 30 owner I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year. I'm
sure mine is going to be exciting.

I am planning on installing a new depth sounder with an in-hull transducer
and would like to know if anyone else has done so, and if so, where did you
determine the best location for the transducer.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Cheers,
Bongo Bob Norway
