thanks as well. As I was responding to Mike that occured to me. As I single hand most of the time that would be an easy solution. I wonder why someone vented the drain to the bilge in the first  place? This was the way it was when I purchased the boat.

Another solution might be to have the sink drain into a jug.  We used that
system in our wooden boat whose sink drained into the bilge previously.
