[Public-List] Mast Beam Variation

Hi Ted,
 
This peace of wood on my 1968 was glued and scewed to the mast beam.  It should be the same on ours.  I suggest that you take it of and clean the area real well and reinstall it in place.
 
Maybe you should consider to redo the beam before next season.  It's going to fail one day or another and you want to sail yout boat to relax right ?  Take that stress of your mind.  That's what I did 2 years ago.  I remouved the beam myself on fall and clean all the planks.  I bring them to a boatyard I know, they relaminate it whit epoxy this time and I put it back on place.  Cost me 300$.  It will last for more than 40 years this time.  The beam look real good whit varnish, it's got the original look and it's stronger than alu. plate I'm sure.
