I have just completed the restoration of Alberg 30, hull # 475, Ginseng.
According to the Alberg 30 website history spreadsheet the original owner in
1987 was a Harry Hansen of Back Creek. The last owner of record(2004) was a
Rick Hansen of Back Creek.
I am told in her last years in the water she sailed out of Myers Marina,
Annapolis. On her stern below her name, Ginseng, was Cattail Creek. In fact
there was a Cattail in "gold leaf" sprouting up through the name.
This fine lady is now restored back to her original glory. Alex Magiaone,
Hansen's foreman at the Whiby boat works remembers working on her and I got
a lot of the materials for her refit from Alex before he sold the Whiby Boat
works a few moths ago and finally retired. She is now sporting a new Vetus
33 HP diesel engine and is ready for Kingston Ontario this summer, Nova
Scotia this fall and Havanna this winter.
I would love to speak with someone who sailed on her, worked on her , knew
the previous owners. etc...Any
information on her background and owners. If only she could talk!
I purchased her from C.R.A.B. (Chesapeake Accessible Boating Association)
and
they have no estate information..The estate donation was third party. I have
had no luck in trying to locate the previous two owners on record.
If anyone can suggest a contact to get some of the anecdotal history for
Ginseng, please let me know.
