Hi Michael - 

Around 1974 her name was changed from ZANNE (pronounced ZAH-NEE) to TOUCH
WOOD.  The name was I think a pun on the use of the saying for good luck and
of course on the amount of wood you touch looking after a boat like her.  I
read once that 'touch wood' entered the English language harkening back to a
thought that touching the wood of the crucifix cross would bring luck.

When I bought her in '79 I intended to change her name back to ZANNE because
that was the name on the trophies around Lake Ontario from her Folkboat
class racing days.  But, she became TOUCH WOOD to me pretty quickly so TOUCH
WOOD she remained.

Yes, John Lindsey was very generous - that trailer will I hope bring TW home
some time later and I also hope that it will bring SURPRISE to interesting
places for cruises.  Being able to go to weather at 60knots really increases
my cruising range!
