Go slow, learn to hang the boat stern to the wind by balancing the engine in
reverse, bow down to the wind. Back and fill the engine in fwd and reverse
using the rudder with the engine in fwd to kick the stern one direction or
the other then immediately use reverse to stop fwd motion. Play with it
away, from other boats, and you will quickly learn how to handle the boat in
tight conditions.
You can spin an alberg within its own length once you get used to it.
As the Greeks of old said: all things in moderation.

:I also have a terrible time trying to motor backwards, especially if there
is wind or current. I would like to hear from others about any tricks that
make it easier.
Thanks
