one thing to add:  SURPRISE has been fitted with a new mainsail since those
photos were taken!

Those pictures were taken when we were departing on the '05 Misery Cruise;
we had driving wind and snow that night.  My friend Jason (the guy in yellow
sitting in the cockpit) told me while we were re-setting out anchors at
about 2am "my, the snow looks pretty as it drives horizontally through the
beam of this searchlight".  And after we were back down below decks
"Goodness, my heart hasn't pounded like that for a long time".  Jason is a
an NCM in the CF artillery...
