[Public-List] Mast step pad removal - Alberg 30

Before I tackle the job of removing the mast step pad does anyone have any advice or suggestions? I have saturated the 6 screws with liberal applications of penetrating oil over the past few days and will try to remove them with an impact driver.
I am I correct in assuming the 6 screws are bedded below the aluminium deck plate in into the fibreglass?
