You REALLY need a track with a D-ring or 2 on it.
This allows you to
position the pole at different heights depending on the wind velocity.
Even if you are using you boat only for cruising you will find that having
the adjustable track will make things easier in general. Also ... mount by
drilling & tapping the mast and use silicon to insulate the SS screws
against the Aluminum Mast.
