[Public-List] Our boats susceptible to rot under the mast step??

One of the things on my pre-launch list is to remove the mast step,
and rebed. I don't know when it was last done. However, my list is
long and below-waterline projects are ahead on the list.

Does anyone recall the construction of the cabin top under the mast
step? Is it solid under there or cored?  Have there been any issues
with rot under the mast step??

I'd love to delay this project to the fall.
