Bruno,

I am in. I just need to double check your measurements against my boat. I will do that this weekend.

Let me know the logistics.

Subject: [Public-List] Holding Tank pre-liner boats

Hello Albergers,
About 3 months ago I was inquiering about holding tanks that would fit the pre-liner A30's. Having received very little response about an actual tank that would fit, I extensively searched for a pre-made, roto molded inexpensive tank. Unfortunately I was not able to find a design that would satisfactorily utilize and fit the space under the port V-Bert. They were either too small with a lot of wasted space or too large for the space.
So I decided to get some quotes for a custom made holding tank with the perfect size of about 17 gal and the proper fit with very little space wasted.
The best quote I could get from a reputable manufacturer for one tank was $Cnd 400.00 ( US$ 315.00 @ exchange of 0.7874) plus shipping. This is the one I will buy for myself. However,
I had some e-mails of some members who were interested in getting one for their boat. The quote for 4 tanks would be Cnd $340.00 each (US$ 268.00 @ 0.7874 exchange rate). If there would be even more - I guess they would pay us to buy them......
OK - to get serious, the tank would be built/welded out of 3/8 Polyethylene with five 1-1/2" NPS flush mounted fittings (the top surface will be flush for minimum loss of space). One for inlet, one for pumpout, one for level sensor, and two for air ventilation (can be reduced with adaptor to fit smaller vent tubing). I was told to stay away from an inspection port - another fitting that potentially can leak. So no inspection port. However, if someone feels strong about it, it should be fairly simple to install one at a later date. The Tank is 27" long, 15-1/2" high, has a 3" flat bottom and from there about 45° to the top. Because the V-Bert is a V in reference to the bulk head, the tank is slightly angled at 104° (not rectangular).
For those of you with a serious interest, send me your e-mails so I can forward the actual drawing/design to you (I don't know how to get a file attached to the list). I have built a mock-up out of styrofoam and it fits. But then again, I suggest that all of you with an interest should verify for themselves the available space (there might be differences in the way the V-Berts have been built over the years). To be ready for the season (we launch on Mothers Day May 9, I need to order the tanks no later then April 14th (after Easter holidays) to get a delivery for the end of April. If we can agree earlyer - the better.
So anyone interested, please contact me on my e-mail.
With best regards
Bruno & Elyse
