Thanks for the pics and the info that ALL 1/2" thru hulls are made this way. Back to the bronze thru hull store. Guess that explains why there are no 1/2" sea cocks.

I would replace the gate valves, too. They're brass, not bronze. When I went to replace mine, one crumbled due to internal corrosion that I couldn't see.?
