I was also one of the participants in Stephen's group masthead purchase.  If you have the time to negotiate fabrication of a similar unit, I would recommend it.  It's very nice; good workmanship and features.  On the other hand, I still have my old relic sitting on a shelf.  It's not pretty, but it's free if you want it.  I would be happy to ship it to you.  I never had a problem with it, but jumped at the opportunity to replace it when Stephen announced the buy just as I had the mast down to rebuild the deck beam.
