I would like to thank everyone for their advise on automatic bulge
pumps. Most replies made me glad that I wasn't in the bilge-pump
manufacturing business. Why bother with additional pumps? After all,
my boat had survived 30 years with only the manual Whale pump in the
cockpit.
As the result of the feedback I have received from this positing I
will probably instal a Y or T valve that will enable me to switch from
the engine cooling water intake to the bilge. This arrangement has the
added benefit of making winterization that much easier. I will likely
use the seacock and ball valve to make the more robust arrangement
suggested by Michael Grosh.
In addition, I may instal a Jabsco Water Puppy at a later date.
Any further comments would be welcomed.
Thanks,
John
