I was also going to suggest butyl tape (I would probably choose butyl
caulk on the boat but have used the tape with good success on metal
windows in fiberglass campers). On campers one does put the tape on
the back of the window frame prior to inserting it into the fiberglass
shell.
The PolyShim sounds interesting. Thanks for the info on that.
I would vote for something besides silicone, but then I consider it the
Agent of the Devil ;)
