[Public-List] Sliding Gooseneck

Many boats seem to go now with a fixed gooseneck.  My boat is still the original set-up.  I think a fixed gooseneck is an upgrade however it is something I would do if I were upgrading all the rigging.  Everytime I seem fiddle with one aspect of the rigging it leads to something else and on it goes.

I have more or less decided to leave the rigging as is despite the fact that I have done so much work on other areas of the boat.  Almost everything I have done  centres around safety of the boat and its integrity rather than trying to optimise the systems currently in place.  I figure there are ways to improve sail trim however as Im preparing the boat for offshore travel there are other priorities.

I was glad to see on this thread that it started as a quesiton on trying to fit machine screws into the existing sail track (as an alternative to rivets).  Quickly it expaned to sail trim!  Like many this interconnectivity between tasks has led to more consideration of how to stop the project growing to an unmangageable one.  I plan to launch in the spring ........... but how I'd like a fixed gooseneck fitting!

cheers

Mick
